Graphyne is a promising nanomaterial closely related to graphene. [+] Read more
Both are single-atom sheets of carbon atoms. In graphene, these carbon atoms are bonded together in a uniform, repeating, hexagonal pattern of single and double bonds. But in graphyne, the carbon atoms are joined together in varying combinations of double and triple bonds. While graphene exists in only one configuration, there are a vast number of possible graphynes, each with subtly different arrangements of carbon atoms.
Graphdiyne
Graphyne is only a theoretical material at the moment, existing only in computer models and small molecular fragments, but a variant of graphyne, graphdiyne, is currently available from ACS Material. Graphdiyne is a 2-D sheet of carbon atoms that contain only two acetylene linkages in each unit, resulting in carbon chains that are double the length of the carbon chains in graphyne. Graphdiyne is softer and much less rigid than graphyne would theoretically be but is an excellent semiconductor in theory and in practice.
ACS Material’s new graphyne series includes high-quality graphdiyne powder and graphdiyne monomer HEB-TMS. Both of these advanced nanomaterials show great promise for a number of applications, including helium chemical and isotopic separation, water filtration and purification, sensors, field effect transistors (FETs), and for developing faster transistors and nanoscale electronic devices. Trust ACS Material to provide industry-leading innovative, high-quality nanomaterials for all your research needs. We manufacture our graphdiyne series using advanced methods that achieve pure, consistent results time after time. We’re excited to be among only a few manufacturing companies to supply leading universities and tech companies around the world with graphdiyne and other cutting-edge materials.
